Clinical Research Distance Learning and What Can Be Gained

Students must work toward achieving certain goals with distance learning. These include having not only a theoretical but a practical understanding of what’s involved in the design and analysis of clinical trials, and how random trials are interpreted by researchers. Clinical research distance learning allow students to choose form a variety of modules, which can help them to gain new skills, and expand on skills they already possess. Students are trained to learn new skills that help them to better process information about clinical trials and how to interpret the research.

Clinical research distance learning is designed so that students can interpret data collected in controlled research lab settings. The courses may be used by students working in high, medium, or low income countries. For students with prior education and experience, more advanced modules of study may be chosen. Among the topics which can be studied in clinical research distance learning are Trial Designs, Project Management, Clinical Practice and Ethics, Management of Data, Monitoring Data and Analysis, Epidemiological Studies and Analysis, Cluster Randomized Trials, and Statistical Methods in Clinical Trials.

The core modules for Diploma and MSc courses are Fundamentals of Clinical Trials, Basic Statistics for Clinical Trials, Clinical Trials in Practice, and Reporting and Reviewing Clinical Trials. When studying advanced modules in clinical studies, the student may expect to spend between a required 80 to 100 hours on each module. Students are tested by an examination and a written report at the conclusion of the studies.
