CNA License Renewal: How Can You Get That Done?

A certified nursing assistant of late is becoming in severe demand in many states in the United States. Mostly doctors and nurses are quite busy and are finding it difficult to spend ideal time with their patients. They may not be able to help patients or their clients perform activities like moving about, going to the toilet and taking readings.

This is where the need for a certified nursing assistant arises in the United States. If you are a certified nursing assistant, then you can find employment in nursing homes, hospitals, day care homes, etc. Mostly you will work under a registered nurse in a hospital or healthcare organization.

If you are new to this field, then you need to know that federal laws require you to get a minimum of 75 hours training before appearing for the certification exam. Once you are certified, your name will appear on the state nursing boards website, which makes you a valid certified nursing assistant. This article will help you find out how you can renew your CNA license.

Let us see few pointers on CNA certification renewal.

Requirements of CNA Certification Renewal: Unfortunately the CNA license renewalpolicies differ from state to state. But, mostly the renewal has to be done within two years of practicing. Some states require you to testify credits of continuing education while some states do not. If you are from the state of Nevada, then for your CNA license renewal process, you are required to provide testimonials of continuing education which is usually for 24 hours.

Those in Arizona and Oregon need not provide testimonials of continuing education during their CNA certification renewal process. As you can see, the CNA certification renewal process rules vary from state to state. Obviously you will have to also submit proof of work authorization while applying for your renewal along with documentation testifying your credits of continuing education and employment.

Each time you apply for your CNA certification renewal, you need to beware that your state nursing board will perform a criminal background check on you. The renewal fee is around $50-$60 which can vary from state to state. You will need to know that for change of address, for a permit card or renewing your lapsed license, you will have to pay additional fees.

The above ideas give you an idea of how the CNA renewal process is done. It is not necessary that the above is only followed. For a better understanding, it would be better that you contact or go through the Board of Nursing website of your state. You can also contact the Department of Health and Human Services of your state to find out more information on CNA license renewal.
