How Do I Enroll in CNA?

You can usually easily enroll in CNA programs at a local community college. Many school offer CNA programs at regular intervals throughout the year. The courses are also often scheduled so as to be easy for students who are currently employed to attend. You may or may not have to have a high school diploma or GED to enroll. Check your college’s admission requirements before you start the admissions process. This will help you to avoid delays. If a high school diploma or GED is required, make sure you have the contact information from your school handy.

In some cases, you may be able to take your CNA training through a local hospital or other healthcare facility. When you enroll in CNA in one of these settings, you’ll be able to complete the clinical portion of your studies fairly easily. Most of the coursework in college and non-college settings focuses on the same subjects. There is also an exam and application process required regardless of the educational setting.

Another important consideration when you enroll in CNA is how you will pay for your education. Most local colleges participate in state and/or federal financial aid programs. You may have to fill out some paperwork to determine if you qualify for financial aid. In many cases, the tuition may be low enough to allow you to pay for it without borrowing. This is often the best solution for students who currently have a job. If you’re taking your courses through a healthcare facility that you’ll be working in, your employer may reimburse your tuition costs. Always make sure you’re aware of all options when you enroll.
