How to Achieve CNA Certification NC

The entry level of nursing is called a Certified Nursing Assistant. There is a process to achieve CNA Certification NC. Your hard work to achieve this will give you employment opportunities where you can find numerous jobs giving your time and talents to this rewarding career where you help people to stabilize medical conditions or restore to wellness.

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, Center for Aide Regulation and Education is the governing body of CNA’s for the state. This agency regulates the training programs and approves them for education by CNA’s. You must take an approved course, as only those candidates who apply for the competency exam will be permitted to take the test.

Choose your training program. There are many around the state. Check with the Red Cross, which often offers free training. You can also locate approved courses at local community colleges, nursing training centers, hospitals, or geriatric nursing facilities. Assisted Living and nursing homes are great places to train, as you may be able to get your course for free. Check it out.

As you enter the training course, make an effort to designate your concentration and time for daily review. Your course will be comprehensive and depending on the curriculum arrangement, you need to keep up.

The CNA Certification NC programs are seventy-five hours of course work and one hundred hours of clinical experience. Courses can run from two to six months depending on your chosen venue of training. You will need to meet prerequisites for certification. You must be 18 years of age, undergo a background check, and have a negative tuberculosis test within the past 6 months, possess a GED or High School diploma, be fingerprinted, and have the proper and current immunizations.

Some private CNA schools place the coursework and clinical training in the program together. This can provide for an interesting day versus sitting in a classroom all day. Your training instructor will guide you to the application process to take your certification examination. NC out sources their testing procedures so you will need to follow their instructions.

There are self-testing guides and online help to prepare you for the big day. You will also need to carefully read what you need to bring to the testing center. Follow all the directions, get a good night’s sleep the night before, and keep positive. You have done all you can to achieve CNA Certification NC and upon your passing the test and being placed in the NC Nursing Registry; you will jump into a rewarding career or take the next step to your desired path in nursing.
