Certified Nursing Assistants are in demand and the profession is growing at a rate that is projected to climb until 2018. Programs are state wide and you just might be able to get CNA Certification for free.
Free CNA training programs are found in hospitals, nursing or geriatric long term facilities, and the Red Cross Chapter in your city can be found in a load of different ways and from multiple places. Look for “back to work” retraining programs as today’s job market demands for health care careers is offering numerous opportunities.
Your State Nurse’s Registry is also a good resource to check out free training. Making sure the program is certified by the state is the first decision so you don’t waste your time taking the curriculum and then find out at time of your application to the final examination, that your program is not accredited.
You can also find free training programs through your job center or unemployment services offices. There are publicly funded programs, you just have to dig a little. Free Online training is also an option but some don’t offer the entire program in obtaining CNA Certification for free. Your training consists of classroom study and clinical instruction.
Grants for training are also available. You just need to know where to look. Ask the state nurse’s registry or do some research on the internet. Check out the community colleges also as they have career counselor’s who are kept up to date with the latest information.
Some geriatric long term care facilities will train you for free and your testing application fees are paid for you. The facilities are reimbursed by Medicare so if you can find a facility that will train you, take advantage of it.
As mentioned earlier, your local chapter of the Red Cross is an excellent resource. This is an agency that offers state approved courses or will direct you to upcoming classes if they don’t have a class starting soon. Most courses are 75-100 hours depending on the state. The demand for health care professions is making CNA Certification for free readily available.
