My CNA license Expired: What Can Be Done?

So, you where you CNA before but for some reason you forgot to renew your license. Renewing an expired CNA license is a simple task provided you know how to go about things. But, before we go into that, let us look at how to get a CNA license. It might come in handy to those who are planning on becoming a certified nursing assistant.

To become a certified nursing assistant, you will have to join a CNA certification course in an approved college. The college from where you want to get your CNA training must be approved by your state’s nursing board. Once you have completed the course requirements, you will have to appear for a CNA certification exam.

The CNA exam consists of two portions which have to be cleared in order to receive the CNA certification. You can give your CNA exam up to a maximum for three times after which you will have to again enroll yourself in a community college and start all over again.

The CNA exam: The CNA exam consists of two sections, one which is the theory section and the other is the clinical section. The theory section consists of questions on basic patient care, techniques on safety, and information on what you learned in the CNA certification course.

This is a multiple choice question part where you should be able to answer correctly if you have gone through your study material thoroughly. The clinical section will require you to demonstrate a minimum of three or more clinical CNA skills to the examiner. You can either bring a friend who can act as your patient or you will be required to perform live on a patient in a real time clinical setting.

Licensing requirements: You must abide by all the requirements given by your examiner to receive your CNA license once you complete your CNA exam. The cost of your CNA exam will vary according to the state. Once you receive your CNA license you will be registered on the nursing aide registry.
