Nurse Assistants Must Prepare for CNA Questions

The demand for certified nursing assistants or CNA continues to increase due to a more improved and expanding medical industry today. According to the Bureau of Labor & Statistics Occupational Handbook, nursing, psychiatric and home health aides are expected to grow much faster than the average rate. If you are looking for progressive career, you must consider working for CNA jobs. One of the requirements to become a nursing assistant is to obtain a license by passing a certification exam. You are not eligible to work as a nurse aide if you are not licensed. That is why you have to answer the CNA questions correctly when you take the exam.

The National Council of State Boards of Nursing is responsible for creating the actual exam. The CNA exam is composed divided into two: written and practical. You have to take both exams on the same day. The average number of questions in a written exam is seventy (70). However, the number of CNA questions and the passing score of the exam depend on the state where you belong. The questions are also based on what you have learned as a nursing assistant. The goal of the licensure exam is to measure the knowledge and skills of the applicants.

The second part is the practical or hands-on exam. In this portion, you are required to demonstrate at least five nursing aide skills. You are given twenty to thirty minutes to perform each task. An assigned evaluator will assess your performance. One of the common CNA questions in the practical exam is to measure basic health information like patient’s blood pressure and body weight. You must perform the skills correctly to pass this particular part of the exam. Both exams must be completed to get the certification that you need.

Preparation is a must to equip you for the actual exam. There are several ways to prepare for CNA questions like making a study guide, using flashcards and answering practice tests available online. Also, you do not have to worry if you failed the first exam. Most states give three attempts for you to pass the license test. But, you should not worry about failing if you have prepared well for the real test. Your experience as a nursing assistant is really essential to become a certified nursing assistant.
